Life Skills Badges
At Kudo Academies we believe that working in partnership with parents and schools is the best way to help develop our members and that the best way to develop our members is to reward their achievements.
In the past parents have believed that taking their children to a martial arts school will be the quick fix to having the perfect child, after all we do promise to install all the values that we possibly can into the child. We addressed this by incorporating the life skills badge scheme. This scheme ensures that everyone is doing there bit in the development of the child.
It has proved to be a great success and everyone who takes part has thought it is a great idea.
This is how it works:
On the first level we have Life skills (please refer to the chart) these are all extremely important badges and we have found that working closely with the parents has helped the child enormously. They are all free of charge and are included in your monthly fee. One badge per month will be given out in class in front of all the children. All we ask is that you take the slip into school for a week and give it to the teacher, they will monitor the child, let’s say the badge they are going for is discipline. Once the child has proved themselves in school they then bring the slip home and you will put it in a prominent place where the child will see it daily as a permanent reminder of what they have to do to achieve the badge. We keep our slip on the fridge door. If the child misbehaves in anyway and you have installed into them that getting the badge but more importantly that discipline is a good thing hopefully this will get them back on track again.
So hopefully you see the benefits of this scheme, secondly:
You will have been given a wall chart and a colouring in chart; this is for a series of martial arts moves and tasks that over the four years it takes to achieve a junior black belt they will collect. Most of these badges are free except some of the more special ones but these will be done at a later date in the curriculum. We have ones for counting in Japanese, break fall badges and very important badges for raising money for charity, normally children’s charity.
As you can appreciate we can’t do all the work ourselves monitoring the children when they are in our presence is easy but with these tools you can be part of the martial arts education also.
Please help us help you achieve the very best for your children.
